21st Century, Champagne cover, Solid pure silver, Battaglia di Cascina, Italy

About the Item

This champagne K-OVER is a distinguished piece from our Work of Art Collection. The artist has intricately chiseled a scene on pure silver 999/°°, depicting the dramatic start of the Battle between Florence and Pisa. The scene captures Florentine soldiers bathing naked in the Arno River, responding to a trumpet’s call warning of the Pisan attack. This cover draws inspiration from a never-completed artwork commissioned to Michelangelo, bringing historical depth and artistic reverence to the piece. Handcrafted by Lorenzo Foglia, a master goldsmith from Florence, the creation of this cover spanned several months, utilizing advanced techniques such as overhang and chiseling. The core value of this piece lies in its artistic perfection, achieved by working from a single piece of silver. The complexity of the task was heightened by the absence of a reverse side, and the meticulous chiseling of the human figures showcases Foglia’s extraordinary attention to detail. This remarkable K-OVER has been proudly showcased at prestigious events, including the Four Seasons (2019, Florence), the Cannes Yachting Festival (2019, Cannes), and Origin (2019, Milan). Artist information: Lorenzo Foglia, was born in Viareggio in 1971. He grew up in his family workshop, and still very young, started working there together with his father and grandfather. There, he studied the art of metalworking and learned embossing and chisel techniques. During his career, he created furniture and jewellery for European Royal Families as well as for the theatre and film industry. In addition, he won twice the international competition "Art in a jewel”, promoted by Florence Gift Mart. Today, he is President of the “Silversmiths of the city of Florence” and he is “Master Craftsman” recognized by Regione Toscana. Recently, he has been working with K-OVER for the project: K-over Art. He signed all the champagne cover he chiselled. Technical Features K-OVER is a brand of P.M.P Firenze, a company with more than 40 years of experience in the silverware industry. Our covers keep your treasured bottles of champagne fresh for up to 2 hours. K-OVER is reusable, you can easily change the bottle by unscrewing the cap at the bottom. Each champagne cover is unique and has only been displayed at artistic and cultural events, or private luxury launches. K-OVERS are compatible with champagne bottles such as Moet Et Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Cristal, Pol Roger, Piper, Perrier Jouet, Taittinger, Mumm, Ferrari, and Berlucchi. All our champagne and wine covers are crafted from solid 999/°° silver, unlike the typical use of sterling silver in silverware. This unique choice is driven by three compelling reasons, we aim to provide our customers with a high-value and unique product. Pure silver’s resistance to oxidation makes it easier to clean and polish. Finally, the antibacterial properties of silver ensure it’s safe for use with food and beverages.
