You can opt in to a Program by following the sign-up instructions, and you have the ability to opt-out at any time by [insert instructions]. In some cases, we may provide additional terms and conditions associated with a particular Program, which we will provide to you when you sign up. In offering the Programs, we consider the value of the free or discounted products or service or other benefits we offer as well as our expenses in offering the Program and ensure that the benefits we offer to consumers are reasonably related to the value of collecting consumers’ personal information to us, such as by being able to reach them with marketing communications or better understand their preferences. Please note that if you request deletion of part or all your personal information, that could affect your ability to qualify for a Program.
Do Not Track. Some web browsers may transmit a “do-not-track” signal. Because there currently is no industry standard concerning how to treat such signals, the Services currently does not take action in response to do-not-track signals. We respond to legally recognized browser-based opt out signals, such as the Global Privacy Control signal for California residents.
Shine the Light. California’s Shine the Light Law (CA Civil Code § 1798.83) allows residents to request a list of all the third parties to which we have disclosed certain “personal information” (as defined by California’s Shine the Light law) during the preceding year where the business knows or reasonably should know that the third parties used the personal information for those third parties’ “direct marketing purposes.” Direct marketing purposes means “the use of personal information to solicit or induce a purchase, rental, lease, or exchange of products, goods, property, or services directly to individuals by means of the mail, telephone, or electronic mail for their personal, family, or household purposes.” However, a business is not required to provide this information where it adopts and discloses, in its privacy policy, a policy of not disclosing “personal information” to third parties for their “direct marketing purposes” 1) unless the resident first affirmatively agrees or 2) if the resident has exercised an option that prevents that information from being disclosed. 1stDibs maintains such a policy and thus is not required to provide this information. Please see the “Sale or Sharing of Personal Information” portion of this “California Privacy Notice” section for more information about your opt-out rights. California residents may contact us at privacypolicy@1stDibs.com. In the subject line of your request, you must include: “California Shine the Light Request” and in the body of the email, you must include your name, a current California address including, street address, city, state, and zip code, as well as sufficient information for us to determine if the law applies to you.
