About the Item
Antique Dutch 833 silver fish serving fork and knife set by KA van Kempen, circa 1887.
No monogram
The set designed by JM van Kempen are beautifully ornate with pierced and etched tines and blade. The handles feature etched swirl designs and a blank rectangle cartouche perfect for a monogram. The knife blade features a dragon fish at the center of the blade. Hallmarks date this piece to 1887.
Fork measures approx 10" long, 2 1/8" wide across tines.
Knife measures approx 12" long, 2 3/8" wide at widest point across the blade.
Weighs approx 220.6g, 141.9dwt total.
Marked lion 2 (833 fineness) on fork, marked HH (Herbert Hooijkaas makers mark) key lion (.833 fineness) Minerva head with M (city mark for Schoonhoven) D (date mark for 1938)
Very nice condition with some light tarnish and slight surface scratches.
Will come packaged in a gift box or pouch (when possible) and will be shipped US Priority Mail with insurance.

They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There are some very small bends to the tines of the forks here & there, edge wear to the gilding at high points throughout (and particularly at the joints of the hollow handles and the edges of the blades). Otherwise, there are scratches to the gilt surface throughout, some light edge wear, some light dings and indentations here and there, some fine and light surface scratches, and other signs of light wear consistent with age.
