A very rare English sterling silver nutmeg grater.
In the form of a scallop shell by Hilliard and Thomason of Birmingham, England.
It is modeled as full bodied scallop shell and has a cover that reveals a hinged steel grill or grater.
The interior rim bears hallmarks for Hilliard & Thomason.
A very fine addition to any sophisticated nutmeg grater collection!
