One Off Trench Art Signet Ring WW1
About the Item
A colorful Trench Art Signet ring with Danish and German flags. This was created by a soldier in the trenches fighting in WW1. Around 30,000 Danish German citizens from Schleswig fought in the German army. Denmark was defeated and Schleswig-Holstein way back in 1864 and was annexed by Prussia. A large group of Danes became German citizens and had to do service in the German army. Trench Art rings were made of whatever the soldiers could get their hands on, shell cases, bullets any or metal they could find. The craftsmanship is extraordinary especially considering these were not jewelers and they were in the trenches. This ring is substantial and sturdy. Size 9 1/2
