The Victorian Period is named for the reigning monarch who was reputedly an incurable romantic. Victorian Jewelry virtually drips with sentimentality and symbolism. This highly ornate Three-Stone engagement ring of notable feminine grace was, still is the most popular style, and epitomizes the 19th century Victorian Romanticism. Three old European Cushion cut diamonds set in buttercup heads and form a beautiful line of dancing light, with the kind of rich, slow flashes and sparkles that can only come from the finest old cut stones. The combined estimated weight of about 2.16 carats. The 1.06ct Center Old Mine Cushion, certified by GIA as J color and VS2 clarity. There are 2 Large OLD Mine Side Diamond with estimated total weight 0.98ct accented with 6 small Old European Cut Diamonds, 0.12ct. Estimated side Diamond's total weight is 1.04ct, I-J SI quality overall. Each of these hand cut stones absolutely sparkle with every turn of the hand and play of the light. Made during the 1900, this stunning yet ever so wearable jewel has an overall sense of tailored beauty which is the hallmark of great jewelry no matter the age. This absorbing antique ring of great finesse and Victorian flair concludes with a slender band and an easily sizable shank. The current size is 6 1/4. Crafted in Platinum and 18K Yellow Gold ( tested). The Weight: 3.9g. The band tapers from 2.68mm to 2.18mm, The height : 6.44mm. True padparadschas are a unique blend of pink and orange, exhibiting elements of both these colours in the same stone. Historically found only in Ceylon, the name ‘padparadscha’ (pronounced pad-per-add-sha) is derived from the ancient Sanskrit word ‘padmaraga’ referring to the colour of a lotus flower. However, most lotus blossoms are actually more pink than orange so today it is often thought of as a mix of lotus pink and sunset orange. Due to their rarity these stones are amongst the most expensive in the world. As with all gemstones, those that are certified untreated will attract a premium and, like blue sapphires, many padparadschas are heated to improve their colour. So gems such as this one which have received no treatment are even more rare and desirable. Today orangey-pink sapphires are found in Vietnam, Tanzania and Madagascar, however purists believe only those found in their original location of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) should be termed true padparadschas.
