Vintage Ring 18k Gold Emerald Diamond Estate Jewelry

About the Item

A massive oval faceted emerald round brilliant cut diamond ring made of 18k yellow gold. It’s an impressive Mid-century piece that carries a lot of character. Two rows of diamonds surrounding the emerald are set one above another. The four-prong setting of each diamond is circled with the braided gold frames. That creates a fluffy, almost foamy effect and makes the emerald look even bigger. This bold vintage cocktail ring is made of 18 karat yellow gold and features an approximately 9.87-carat oval faceted emerald (15.26 x 13.02 x 8.70 mm), accented with 28 round brilliant cut diamonds (H-I color, VS clarity, total weight 2.10 carats). This emerald ring top measures 1 1/8" x 1” x ½” (2.8 x 2.4 x 1.3 cm). The 18k gold ring weighs 13.7 grams. The ring is size 6.25 (resizable). Stamped with hallmark for 18 karat gold. Emerald jewelry symbolizes trust, hope and love. Comparing to rubies that are mostly associated with passion, emeralds are the stones of faithful, mature feelings. That’s why emerald rings often serve as engagement rings. Because of its vivid, bright color emerald also represents the new beginnings of the spring. It’s believed to supply the wearer with vitality and clarity. The majority of the world’s emerald production takes place in Colombia. Colombian emeralds are known for the highest quality because of the lowest content of iron and fewer impurities. The second place in green gems industry is taken by Zambia. Bold, articulated, yet feminine, this cocktail ring is a great addition to your jewelry collection.

About Buckle Symbolism in Jewelry: Buckle design is a classic element in jewelry making. It’s dated as far as the early 1800’s. Perhaps the trend was started by Queen Victoria who was wearing her buckle ring as sign of the Order of the Garter membership. The symbol of the order featured a buckle belt. Also, buckles are designed to connect and fasten things together, making them symbolic of connection. In jewelry it can represent the bond between two people. For bracelets or rings it may be interpreted as a token of commitment or friendship. Belts are often associated with security due to their ability to hold items in place. In jewelry, it’s particularly reflected in designs like chokers where buckles serve both functional and decorative purposes. They can represent personal strength and self-assurance. In some cultures, buckles are seen as protective symbols. The idea is that a buckle can "lock" or "seal" something. In jewelry, buckles might be incorporated into designs to symbolize guarding against negative influences. The symbolism of buckles in jewelry design can vary based on individual preferences. It reflects the wearer's intentions and the context in which it’s worn. About Gübelin Jewelry: Six generations of the family-owned jewelry business and counting. In vintage jewelry design, turquoise holds a special place. The name “turquoise” came from the French pierre tourques and translates as a “Turkish stone.” The mineral was first transported to the west through Turkey from mines in the historical Khorasan province of Iran (Persia) and Afghanistan. Pre-Columbian Native Americans mined the stone throughout nowadays. In all these cultures turquoise was considered as a protective stone for warriors and symbolized the connection to heaven. In the 17th century wearing turquoise jewelry was a must for a well-dressed gentleman. The stone was popular to the point when all the emeralds in the crown that Napoleon I gave Empress Marie Louise were replaced with Persian turquoise cabochons. Today Persian turquoise is beloved by jewelry aficionados for its warm, calming color. It may vary from sky-blue to green. As to the dark veins, it depends on your preferences and a certain piece. Some jewelry collectors prefer turquoise with a web pattern of matrix as it adds character to a piece. The versatility of turquoise allows it to be used in various designs. Smooth cabochon cut turquoise is a common choice for vintage jewelry. Beadwork is also a popular technique that showcases turquoise's unique color. Turquoise is often associated with the American Southwest, where Native American artisans have been using the stone for centuries. Vintage turquoise jewelry...

Most antique rings were created by skilled artisans who meticulously handcrafted each piece. This level of craftsmanship allowed for intricate designs that were often time-consuming to produce. This includes filigree work, hand-chasing, granulation (tiny metal bead-work), and hand-piercing to create delicate openwork patterns. The emphasis on hand-made production is a hallmark of the era’s jewels. Antique rings were typically made from both gold and silver. The jewelers noticed that diamonds look whiter when set in white metal and not in yellow. The white gold was not invented back then yet and platinum was too hard for jewelry tools...
