Antique 18th Century Portrait Miniature Strass Ring Silver Rose Gold European
About the Item
18th Century Portrait Miniature and Strass Ring in Silver and Rose Gold, English or French, circa 1780-1900. A rare and elegant late 18th-century portrait ring, featuring a finely hand-painted miniature of a nobleman in profile, dressed in a blue coat with a white cravat. The oval portrait is delicately set under glass and encircled by a halo of antique strass stones, adding a refined brilliance to the composition. The bezel is crafted in silver, while the undercarriage and ornate engraved shank with fleur-de-lis motifs is fashioned from warm-toned rose gold, exhibiting the craftsmanship typical of the Georgian period.
Historical Context:
Miniature portrait rings were highly sentimental pieces, often commissioned as love tokens or keepsakes of a beloved family member or friend. This example, with its detailed painting and luxurious embellishments, reflects the refinement and artistry of the Georgian era, a time when jewelry was deeply personal and symbolic.
