Victorian Colombian Emerald and Diamond Cluster Ring
About the Item
A Fine Victorian Colombian emerald and diamond cluster ring, emerald weighing 5.54 carats of Colombian origin accompanied by a SSEF certificate set to the centre of a rectangular cluster surround of eighteen old brilliant-cut diamonds estimated weight 1.30 carats, cut down setting in silver to yellow gold, gross weight 11.91 grams, circa 1890, additonal Victorian bangle with central fitting for emerald and diamond cluster, with graduated old brilliant-cut diamond set shoulders, a total estimated weight of 1.10 carats, in silver to yellow gold, concealed clasp with safety chain, circa 1890, the head measuring approximately 2x2cm, finger size K1/2, gross weight 15.22 grams.
This ring is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as silver and 18ct gold.
An exquisite antique piece. The central rich green Columbian emerald is captivating and impressive, weighing over 5.5 carats. It is surrounded by glittering old-cut diamonds that catch the light beautifully, adding to the splendour of the central stone. The ring has a lovely yellow gold shank which complements the glow of the emerald and is remarkably eye-catching on the finger. The central emerald and diamond cluster can be removed from the ring and attached to a bangle bracelet of yellow gold featuring further dazzling diamonds, making this piece versatile. This magnificent ring comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and is a perfect example of late Victorian opulence as well as ingenuity.
