About the Item

An exquisite old Rose Cut diamond ring from the Georgian era (ca1790)! This wonderful piece is crafted in 15kt yellow gold with a darkened sterling silver setting. A large, sparkling old Rose Cut diamond rests at the center, held within a closed foil-back belcher setting, weighing approximately 1.00ct in total weight. A beautiful open wirework gold band frames the diamond at either side, complete with elegant swirls of flowing hand-engraved detail, which graduates towards the back. A wonderful and enchanting Georgian era ring, it looks simply stunning when worn. It would make a magnificent addition to any collection, or a very unique and special engagement ring! Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6, but could be slightly re-sized. The silver and diamond centerpiece measures a little less than 1/2" tall and slightly more than 1/2" wide. The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling-topped gold setting, and the diamond is intact and securely set. The silver setting displays a darkened appearance due to its natural patina on the surface, which is normal for Georgian era jewelry and adds natural depth to the design. Additionally, due to the nature of old Rose Cut diamonds, the stones are not uniform in shape, cut, and color, and show natural variation that adds to their unique and beautiful appearance. *Please note that antique jewelry with foil-back stones should not be submerged in a cleaning solution, or exposed to conditions where it can become wet.
