Butterfly Locket Ruby Pearl Enamel 14 Karat Gold Victorian Insect Pendant
About the Item
This is a rare and wonderful Victorian locket pendant with a Butterfly and Flowers set with Ruby and Pearl in 14 Karat Gold with Robin's Egg Blue Enamel. The Butterfly Locket dates to the Victorian period when insect inspired jewelry was sweeping the land. The butterfly flies within the flowers and leaves amidst the blue enamel sky! The locket is 14 Karat gold. The butterfly and flowers are set with Ruby cabochons and Pearls. On the reverse is a glass fronted panel which may be removed to insert your favorite photo or memento. The whimsical butterfly dances delightfully around the neck and creates a conversation piece to be passed on for generations. And insect inspired jewels are all the rage today. The locket dates to circa 1860 - 1910.
The locket pendant is 1 3/4 inches (46 mm) long including the bales, and 1 1/4 inch (30mm) wide, and 1/4 inch (7mm) deep.
The locket weighs 12.8 grams.
