Victorian Diamond and Ruby 'Beggars Heart' Silver and Yellow Gold Pendant
Located in London, GB
A Victorian diamond and ruby 'Beggars Heart' silver and yellow gold pendant. This charming heart shaped pendant is composed of two hearts, one set within the other and both freely articulated. The outer heart is set with old mine cut diamonds in silver, which is typical for the Victorian period - this allows the white brilliance of the diamonds to really stand out against the blackened silver behind them. The inner heart is set with old cushion cut rubies in yellow gold, a warmer and softer background for their pinkish hue. The reverse of the pendant is finished in yellow gold. The old mine cut diamonds have a total weight of 1.40 carats approximately, assessed as H/I colour, VS2 clarity. Dimensions: 32 x 28 x 2mm The locket is threaded through with a modern, non original elegant 9 karat white gold 16 inch cable link chain. This pendant is a beautiful example of the romantic and sentimental Victorian aesthetic, no other time was the heart shape so wildy popular as during the era of Queen Victoria, who was the proud owner of many heart shaped jewels...

Antique Georgian Carnelian Small Fob Pendant
Located in Rotterdam, NL
This antique Georgian fob pendant, dating back to the late 18th to early 19th century, is a fine example of the elegant craftsmanship of the period. The pendant is adorned with a carnelian stone, a richly colored orange-red gemstone that was highly favored during the Georgian era. The carnelian is polished and set securely into a decorative metal mount, featuring engraved lines throughout the fob. The pendant’s design reflects the artistic trends of the time, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal. Fobs were originally practical items used to seal letters and documents with wax. The base of the fob, typically engraved with a crest, monogram, or decorative motif, would leave an imprint in the wax, serving as a personalized signature. This made them essential tools for gentlemen and women of status during the Georgian era, as they were used for authenticating important communications. Beyond their functional purpose, fobs quickly became fashionable accessories, symbolizing wealth, style, and social standing. Worn on a pocket watch chain, waistcoat, or as pendants, fobs often showcased intricate designs and high-quality materials, such as precious stones like carnelian, amethyst, or agate. The vibrant carnelian stone was particularly popular due to its durability and its association with protection, vitality, and courage. Over time, fobs evolved from purely utilitarian objects to highly decorative jewelry pieces, admired for their beauty and craftsmanship. They were often gifted as sentimental tokens or symbols of affection, further enhancing their appeal. This Georgian carnelian...
