This is a spectacular and very rare monumental antique Art Deco - Victorian - Belle Epoque Lava Cameo Pendant Necklace with a magnificent deeply carved lava cameo of a woman with spectacular flower adornments in her flowing hair. The cameo sets in a silver swivel setting within a circular mount with a garland of flowers at the base set with pearls. This is a rare museum quality early Rose Cut Diamond Pendant dating to the Georgian Era set with an abundance of antique Rose Cut Diamonds set in silver atop 14 Karat gold as was the custom of the period. The pendant of great beauty and dating to the 1700s. Diamonds were all the rage in the Georgian period and this is a wonderful example. Early pieces such as this are extremely difficult to find. This one is so immensely wearable as the size is just perfect for wearing either day or night. It has stunning period character and style. The pendant is 68 mm (2 3/4 inches) long from the top of the bale to the bottom of the pendant. Without the bale it is 58 mm long. It is 45 mm (1 3/4 inches) wide at the widest point. The rose cut diamonds are set in silver collets atop 14 Karat gold. The gold bale is a later addition. There has been some restoration of the pendant as is visible from the back - this is very typical of the early Georgian jewels...
