About the Item
This large brooch features floral hand carved Mintabie black opal plaques, cognac diamonds, and baroque freshwater pearls set in a handmade 18k mounting.
It measures approximately 4.5" in length by 3" width.
Mintabie Opal comes from the town of Mintabie which is located approximately 270km north west of Coober Pedy, in South Australia. Mintabie opal is renowned for its bright colors and longevity. Mining began there in 1921 and continues to this day.
