Art Deco Storyteller Andean Indigenous Scenes Panel Bracelet Rose Gold Peru 1930
About the Item
A superb Art Deco storyteller panel link bracelet with Andean indigenous scenes in 18kt rose gold, possibly Peruvian, 1930s. This superb jewel is modeled as a sequence of six oblong panels of scalloped borders with chiseled decoration of traditional Andean symbols of birds and deities. These plaques tell a story through three-dimensional cutout and stamping scenes of indigenous mountain life: alpacas or llamas carrying goods; ritual cactus; an indigenous woman walking; an indigenous man crafting tools; a woman seated while enjoying fruits; and finally a reed sailboat with a lone rider to the afterworld.
Marked “18K” for 18kt gold. Dimensions: 20.5 x 2.3 cm. Gross Weight: 32.7g.
