About the Item
A multi gem-set charm bracelet, the fetter link platinum chain millegrain rub-over set with twenty-one round brilliant-cut diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of 1.0 carat, suspending ten charms, each depicting a different subject, a card depicting an ace of spades, an articulated man, a swan, a paint pallete, a lobster holding a pearl, the word love, a horse-shoe, a four-leaf clover, a toilet lid and a man on a bicycle, all variously set with round brilliant-cut diamonds, calibré-cut sapphires, rubies and emeralds, opal and mabé pearl, all set to platinum mounts, circa 1950, unmarked, tested as platinum with 14ct gold tongue, measuring approximately 19cm x 2.7cm, gross weight 28.8 grams,
This vintage bracelet is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as platinum with 14ct tongue fitting.
A chic charm bracelet featuring ten eye-catching subjects such as a paint palette, a horseshoe, a card, and a four-leaf clover. Each of the charms in this bracelet is wonderfully detailed and has been carefully designed. The paint palette charm features eight scintillating stones depicting coloured paints on a palette. The front wheel of the penny-farthing charm rotates fully when turned, as if the figure atop is actually covering distance. The cabochon-cut moonstone forming the wing of the swan displays a lovely adularescence when turned in the light, and the lustrous mabé pearl sitting nestled above the lobster gives the creature character, its body curling around in a protective way. These more unusual stones bring a nice variety to the bracelet and separate this from bracelets which feature diamonds alone. The coloured stones complement the diamonds perfectly and add a nice pop of colour to an already quirky charm bracelet. This charm bracelet is on sale at Bentley and Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Art Deco Reverse Carved Rock Crystal Equestrian Motif Multi Charm Bracelet
Located in Narberth, PA
Reverse carved crystal was a technique created by cutting pieces of rock quartz crystal into a convex form and then polishing it into a cabochon shape. An image is carved into the flat side of the crystal and then hand painted. From the front, the image appears to be almost three dimensional. Many different images were used in reverse carved crystal jewelry and artwork, but animals were some of the most common motifs.
A magnificent gemstone and reverse carved crystal charm bracelet from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This incredible platinum piece features a wonderful compilation of 6 equestrian themed charms which dangle from a fine interlocking chain link bracelet. Each charm is unique and all are detailed with sparkling Single Cut diamonds throughout. The gorgeous charms include miniature versions of a horseshoe, two riding crops, a hunting horn, a medal with ribbons, and the image of a horse carriage a man and woman seen from the back window. Both riding crops and the hunting horn charms are each adorned with a delicate Essex crystal cabochon, which rests on a Mother of Pearl background and is bezel set within a round frame. The matching reverse carved images are incredibly artistic, depicting the face of a charming red fox with delicate hand-painted detail portraying expressive facial features, pointed ears, and vibrant fur. The medal charm features a similar Essex carved crystal cabochon adorned with a painted profile of a horse head featuring rich brown hair with a bridle and bit. The beautiful "ribbons" below are each decorated with calibrated sapphire stones, adding a wonderful pop of rich blue color to the design. Finally, the romantic charm of a loving couple in the carriage window features two ruby "lamps" on either side of the carriage and the man's top hat adorns rich black enameling. The fine chain bracelet is comprised of delicate rectangular shaped links that interlock together and fastens at a spring ring clasp stamped with an "IRID PLAT" purity mark. Truly a one of a kind piece, this beautiful equestrian inspired bracelet would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
The bracelet measures approximately 7" in length. The charms vary in size with the largest one being one of the riding crops, which measures about 3/4" long (including the bail at the top) and about 1/2" wide. The smallest charm is the carriage and it measures approximately 5/8" long, including the bail at the top, and slightly less than 1/2" wide.
The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting. All of the gemstones and crystal cabochons are intact and securely set and the enamel is free of chips or scratches. The Essex crystal cabochons display some scratches on the surface and the painted images, especially on the fox charms...
