Frame Compositions

1stDibs is pleased to present “Frame Compositions,” an in-house curated exhibition of digital works by multimedia artist Richard Garet. For this solo exhibition, Garet debuts his latest NFT series, also called “Frame Compositions,” comprising 29 works that explore the relationship between color, light, surface and form on a digital plane.

Metaglyphs

“Metaglyphs” presents 10 internationally renowned artists using digital technologies to generate layers of meaning on more than one experiential plane.

Metaglyph roughly translates to “beyond symbol” — an artwork representing the interconnected relationship between object materiality and digital existence. As long as we’ve told stories, we’ve been interested in objects that exist on the border between worlds. From ancient mythology to modern science fiction, our archetypal stories are filled with magical objects that serve as keys, black mirrors of culture and false identity, secret weapons with hidden powers.

Curated by Katie Peyton Hofstadter with artists Alfredo Salazar-Caro, Amy Kurzweil, Claudia Hart, LaJuné McMillian, LoVid, Carla Gannis, FakeShamus, Morehshin Allahyari, Savannah Spirit, and Swoon.

Escapism

The exhibition “Escapism” ponders the tendency toward digital distraction, particularly as a vehicle to not only conceive of new worlds but also to cope with the current one. The creators use a variety of technologies, like computational photography and AI, and their bodies of work explore styles, like digitized landscapes and dystopian imagery, that characterize the experience of escape as both pleasant and unnerving.

“Escapism” includes the work of creators Bella Whitford, Daniel Ambrosi, Snow Yunxue Fu, Karl Poyzer, Sam Price and Nogland.

PORTALS

As the NFT market continues to burgeon, our inaugural exhibition is a vigorous effort to enter what guest curator Lee Mason describes as “the portal into the future.” “Portals: Art on the Threshold” presents a host of artists and designers from across the metaverse, ready to share their story-driven work with a broader audience. Together, these creators exemplify the diversity of skills, mediums and content this community offers and demonstrate the breadth of quality work available.
