Taxidermy Wall Decoration Collection of 3 Butterflies, Spain, 1950s

About the Item

Taxidermy Wall Decoration Collection of 3 Butterflies, Spain, 1950s This exquisite framed butterfly collection features three beautiful specimens. The bodies antennas are switched to paper dummys, but the wings appears to be real. Vintage butterfly taxidermy is elegantly displayed in small rounded glass cases, surrounded by neatly folded wooden sticks, shaped into a delicate round form. Created by an unknown artist in Spain around 1950, this framed artwork showcases the intricate beauty of butterflies. It remains in original condition, exhibiting minor wear that is consistent with age and use, contributing to its lovely patina. The materials used include wood and glass. Framed Preserved Butterfly Collection: The Yellow Butterfly Identified as a Colias hyale, or the pale clouded yellow, this butterfly belongs to the Pieridae family, commonly known as the yellows and whites. It is found throughout most of Europe and large parts of the Palearctic region. The adult wingspan measures between 52–62 millimeters (2.0–2.4 inches). This species inhabits flowering meadows up to 2,000 meters above sea level, and its larvae feed on various species from the Fabaceae family, including Vicia, Coronilla, Medicago, Lotus, Cytisus, and Trifolium. The Dark Brown Butterfly This specimen appears to be a Libythea ancoata, belonging to the Nymphalidae family, and is located along the north-west coast of Madagascar. The Brown & White Butterfly Attribution for this butterfly remains anonymous.
