"Dream Garden", Spectacular 1920s Print with Maxfield Parrish-Inspired Frame

About the Item

This extraordinary paean to Maxfield Parrish brings together an original, 1920s print featuring the "Dream Garden" mosaic in Philadelphia, with a recent, elaborate frame and matte inspired by Parrish's many color-saturated, exotic paintings from the 1910s and 1920s. The rare print at the center of this piece dates to the 1920s, and features the enormous mosaic in the Curtis Building in Philadelphia which was conceived by Parrish and executed by no less than Louis Comfort Tiffany. The mosaic is a celebrated work to this day, one of the crown jewels of historic Philadelphia. More recently, artist Stephen Hutak added the carved gesso matte and frame surmounted by a Comedy mask, all inspired by Parrish's work. The combined piece is a great rarity.
