Rare signed and numbered serigraph print by American artist Allan D'Arcangelo (1930-1998) Artist: Allan D'Arcangelo, American (1930-1998) Title: Untitled - Under Overpass Year: 1979 Medium: Serigraph on Arches, signed and numbered in pencil Edition: 33/120 Size: 35 x 46 inches Allan D'Arcangelo, Buffalo,New York, 1930 - 1998 After earning a degree in history from the University of Buffalo and he moved to Mexico City where he studied art and, in 1958, held his first one-man show. His style, loosely termed Hard Edge or Constructivist Art, is based on spatial relationships. A keen sense of perception, complemented by expert use of color tones and shadows, points up these relationships in forceful compositions. It has been said that D'Arcangelo "has the ability to defy, yet document, spatial relationships at the same time." The recipient of fifteen awards and commissions, D 'Arcangelo has had frequent one-man shows, many of which traveled to prominent museums throughout America. A wonderfully composed, abstract designed limited edition silkscreen serigraph print by American artist Dean Meeker. This work is titled "Portofino" and is one of his more elusive/rare and hard-to-find images. The print is hand-pencil signed, titled, and numbered (Edition of 50) by the artist. Dean Jackson Meeker (born in Madison, Wisconsin, 1920-2002) was an internationally recognized sculptor, painter, and printmaker. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University, and the University of Wisconsin. In 1958, Meeker was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for 1959 and 1960 to study printmaking in Europe. In Paris, he worked at Hayter's printmaking workshop, Atelier 17, and with printmaker Kaiko Moti while also studying in museums in Spain and Italy.
