Impressive large original canvas by French listed artist Lucien Delarue of Monmarte in winter with charming windmill.
Delarue is known internationally as an artist who faithfully captures the romantic moods of Paris. His famous subject of the ''Rooftops of Montmarte,'' along with other Paris scenes, compliment his romantic renderings of the South of France. In this large painting rooftops glisten through the foggy streets of Paris and a windmill is prominent, with a subtle color palette of grey, taupe, pink and blue. Lucien Delarue was born on November 10th, 1925 in Paris. He studied at the studios of Grande Chaumiere, Paris as a pupil of Maitre Yves Brayer and began taking part in exhibitions very early in his career, winning first prize and the Vermeil-Medaille at the Salon Violet. Delarue also received a gold medal at the Salon of Vincennes, a gold medal at the Salon of Clichy in 1973, a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1974 and a bronze medal at the "Arts-Sciences-Lettres" exhibition in Paris. In 1970.

Lucien Delarue
Lucien Delarue was born in Paris on November 10, 1925. At a very early age he participated in many art exhibitions and was met with instantaneous success. He is known internationally as an artist who faithfully captures the romantic moods of Paris. His famous subject of the "Rooftops of Montmartre" along with other equally well executed Paris scenes compliment well his equally romantic renderings of the South of France. The harbors of nice, st tropez, Villefranche, together with repertoire. Delarue holds an impressive list of medals - gold, silver and bronze. He is a member of the French Watercolor Society. His work can be found in the Museum of Ile de France in the Chateau of Sceaux. The municipalities of Clichy and Paris have purchased his works. Today he is certainly one the most well known artists in France. His style and colors are instantly recognizable and collectors seem to have an insatiable appetite for his work. Almost any European or American collection of consequence includes one or several of his works.
