About the Item
An oil on board painting titled “Beach and Cliffs” and dated 1945, signed lower left by artist Bernard Arnest (1917-1986). The painting appears to be in its original grey painted frame.
On the reverse is a partial label from the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY giving the title and first name of the artist.
Arnest had a long and illustrious career as an artist, studying under Boardman Robinson and later receiving the Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Work in Painting. He exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Whitney, and the National Gallery of Art.
