About the Item
This energetic and compelling depiction of modern dance, with a range of nude and semi-nude figures, and a more traditional ballerina in the distance, was painted by Robert Lohman, one of the Midwest's finest and most prolific artists. He worked with renowned sculptor Carl Milles in the 1940s, and at the end of the decade became the Director of Fine Arts for the Cranbrook Academy in suburban Detroit. Later he was centered in Indianapolis; today his sculptures, paintings, and ceramic works are increasingly sought after. The painting is executed on canvas stretched over artist board.
