Michael Hedges, born 1976.
Michael's art connects on a cosmic plane with the Abstract Expressionists he dearly admires. His brushstrokes seem to reverberate off the canvas as he reimagines the synthesis of color, line, and form into a symphonic whole.
Michael received his B.A. in Studio Art from Loras College in Dubuque, IA in 1998. Since then, he has been exhibiting and selling his artwork throughout the country.
Working on around 10 canvases at once is key to creating the striking combinations of color, line, and texture emblematic as his work. He says, “This multiple approach allows me to go in different directions, very quickly building the energy that is critical to a successful painting. I strive to create intense, even and stunning color relationships that are balanced by form and texture into a controlled elegance. The challenge here is to create a vibration in the work that energizes it without separating.”
As collectors respond to his vision in growing numbers, Michael continues to capture that controlled elegance in his vibrant canvases.

An exquisite example of this artist's traditional take on still-life realism, and a masterpiece in its own rite. This floral painting represents the artist's awe for botanical and floral scenes as well as his or her adept knowledge of tactile painting. How we would display:
A botanical painting will forever bring a certain feeling of femininity and softness to a room. This piece would be wonderful displayed in a space with too many harsh lines. Alternatively, we suggest hanging this as part of a grouping of other floral portraits on a large wall to add interest.
