About the Item
Incredible beautiful textured abstract painting by California artist, Lundy Siegriest c1971. Quite large piece and hard to capture the wonderful texture in this painting. The medium is oil paint and plaster. It's titled, 'Blue Mirage'. Stunning blues and pinks that seem to just pop. The more you look at it, the more interesting it becomes. Really a unique and special piece. The artist's oil paint/plaster medium has caused some really interesting reactions with age/air that just add more dimension to the piece, and looks consistent in what the artist was trying to achieve in this wonderful abstract.
Siegriest was born in 1925 in Oakland, California. His father, Louis Siegriest, was also a well known abstract painter. Siegriest graduated from the California College of the Arts in Oakland.
Siegriest became a painter in his own right. He was initially a realist and later became an abstract expressionist. He returned to realism after being injured in a fall. He painted Western landscapes en plein air, and he often exhibited his work with his father at numerous openings, and was represented by The John Boles gallery in San Francisco.
Siegriest died in 1985, in Berkeley, California, at age 60. His work can be seen at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, the Oakland Museum of California, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.
