About the Item
Oil on canvas depicting a French canal scene in the winter with trees still bearing the last remnants their foliage while snow covers the ground. The canal with a central aqueduct is flanked by blue roofed structures, the town in the far off distance.
Signed lower left.
Presented in a gold frame with carved abstract motif, linen fillet.

Condition: Please see detail photos. There are a few age related marks of crackalure, tiny chip to lower left carving that appears to be original to framing, aforementioned is for accuracy as the Painting displays exceptionally well.

Lucien Delarue
Lucien Delarue was born in Paris on November 10, 1925. At a very early age he participated in many art exhibitions and was met with instantaneous success. He is known internationally as an artist who faithfully captures the romantic moods of Paris. His famous subject of the "Rooftops of Montmartre" along with other equally well executed Paris scenes compliment well his equally romantic renderings of the South of France. The harbors of nice, st tropez, Villefranche, together with repertoire. Delarue holds an impressive list of medals - gold, silver and bronze. He is a member of the French Watercolor Society. His work can be found in the Museum of Ile de France in the Chateau of Sceaux. The municipalities of Clichy and Paris have purchased his works. Today he is certainly one the most well known artists in France. His style and colors are instantly recognizable and collectors seem to have an insatiable appetite for his work. Almost any European or American collection of consequence includes one or several of his works.
