A Large Important old master Italian 18th century oil painting portrait of a man in armour holding a helmut in his hand Impressive size 35.5 Inches ( 90cm) high and 28 Inches (71cm) wide The frame is. 44 Inches ( 112cm) high and 36.5 Inches (92.6cm) wide Subject portrait of a Man in armour. Italian old master. Set in a superb quality oval black and gilt frame.. Circa mid 18th century 1760. This painting of a portly gentleman with the white hair was in the castle of Conturbia in Piemonte where the deceased owner Maria Gnocchi grandmother once lived. He was installed on 16 July 1758. This oil painting on canvas painting has been carried out in an exceptional manner, painted by a hand of the greatest skill; creating very realistic impressions within the face of the Man. painted by a painter belonging to the Lombard culture of the 17th century
