"House In Bloom In Summer" By Pauline Delacroix-Garnier, Oil Painting circa 1900

About the Item

Small flower-filled house in the south of France with terrace and wooded garden. Oil on canvas painted by the French artist Pauline Delacroix-Garnier (1859 - 1912) framed in an antique Louis XIV-style gilded shell frame. A copper cartel signed "P. Delacroix" is fixed to the frame. Pauline Delacroix-Garnier is a French painter and watercolorist, born June 9, 1959 in Passy and died February 8, 1912 in Paris's 15th borough. She studied painting and drawing with her husband Henry-Eugène Delacroix (1847 - 1930), but also watercolor with her brother Jules-Arsène Garnier (1847 - 1889). His often small-format works are characterized by precise brushstrokes full of finesse. In 1895, she was awarded the Grand Prix of the Union des femmes peintres et sculpteurs, of which she became vice-president. In 1909, she was awarded a third-class medal at the Salon. Her works can be found in French public collections, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lille and the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse.
