Harry Bertoia monoprint

About the Item

After an intense day of casting and welding mid-century artist Harry Bertoia (American, born Italian. 1915-1978) would unwind by creating one-of-a-kind prints, laying rice paper on a blank inked plate and manipulating the image from the back side of the paper. These relatively quick impressions allowed him an easier, more forgiving medium with which to experiment in 2 dimensions before transferring his ideas into 3D.
