An original signed abstract carborundum artist proof or Epreuve d'Artist (indicated by E.A. on the lower left side) on heavy Arches wove paper by French artist, Serge Helenon (1934-) untitled, circa 1985. Hand signed and numbered on bottom right. Limited Edition: 3/15 Sheet size: 36" H x 25" W This original Serge Helenon Abstract Carborundum Abstract Artist Proof or Epreuve d'Artist by Serge Helenon would enhance any contemporary or modern setting. We recommend having it professionally framed with a mat board to accentuate the artwork. Serge Hélénon was born in 1934 in Martinique. He was based in Paris executing printmaking published by Vision Nouvelle, as well as a painter. A well-listed artist, Hélénon's works may be found in many public and private collections around the world. Born in Martinique in 1934, Serge Hélénon trained at the School of Applied Arts in Fort-de-France before progressing to The School of Decorative Arts in Nice. During the 1960s, Hélénon exhibited his work at the same galleries as James Coignard, Henri Goetz and Max Papart, who collectively had many exhibitions on the French Riviera. In 1970, in collaboration with another West Indian artist, Louis Laouchez, he founded The Negro Caribbean School in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Their production and their respective education left a lasting mark on their students. The Vôhou - Vôhou movement they helped to introduce became a decisive milestone in the development of Ivory Coast contemporary art. Hélénon went on to teach in Senegal.
