Continental 19th Century Oil On Canvas Painting In Its Original Giltwood Frame

About the Item

An outstanding Continental 19th century oil on canvas painting in its original giltwood frame. The beautiful painting depicts Venus at the center laying on a boat with a young man at her side and a charming cherub at the front holding a sail. An additional cherub is swimming in the foreground while a beautiful maiden is leaning on the side of the boat with a bacchanalian figure to the right holding up a basket of ripe fruit. Cupid is flying above the beautiful sunset shooting his arrow into the forest. Framed in its original giltwood frame with fine mottled beaded bands and lovely richly carved foliate designs.
