About the Item
An exceptional and extremely decorative Continental 18th century oil on canvas painting in its original giltwood frame. The wonderfully executed painting depicts a handsome young man in a flowing red garment handing a fish to a man on the ground who is possibly homeless while half dressed and draped in blankets. They are in front of an impressive large tree with the branches and leaves seemingly blowing in the wind with a tall hill and fine foliate designs. In the background is a building with charming personages and mountains extending into the distance. The painting is set within its original mottled giltwood frame with beautiful floral and hammered designs and richly carved foliate and family crest like designs at the corners.
