About the Item
A beautiful oil painting by the Belgian artist Hubert Glansdorff.
It is a portrait of a young child. The child wears a kimono and looks at the viewer with a playful look. Beautiful twinkle in the child's eyes. It looks like the child has dressed up, the kimono seems a bit oversized.
The child poses against a background of chinoiserie wallpaper, here we see birds depicted in a faded manner. This Chinoiserie style in the background fits nicely into the whole.
Beautiful painting style, with beautiful representation of details and light on the one hand and a fast, coarse touch on the other.
The painting is in good, original condition. The frame is probably from the same period as the painting. The frame is also hand-painted with decorative elements and forms a beautiful whole with the painting.
Hubert Glansdorff (Brussels 1877 – 1963 Knokke) is a well-known Belgian artist, there is a lot of information on the internet about his life and work. There is also a Wikipedia page dedicated to him.
He mainly painted flower still lifes and portraits.
