About the Item
A wonderful and most charming pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI Period Walnut, Kingwood, Fruitwood, and Brass commodes/night tables. Each most decorative chest is raised on square tapered Walnut legs inlaid with delicate fillets outlining the shape of the leg. Above is the arbalest shaped apron decorated with lovely foliate Fruitwood inlays below the two rectangular drawers. Each intricately detailed drawer showcases exceptionally inlaid Ebonized Fruitwood three-toned diamond reserves at the keyhole escutcheons, while being flanked by handsome griffins to each side connected by foliate garlands. The Walnut top continues the centered diamond motif, framed with inlaid fillets and concentric borders. All original hardware.
