Hand Built Sculptural Ceramic Side Table
About the Item
This side table has been hand built by it's creator, Kerry Hastings. Inspired by sculptors such as Jean Hans Arp and Barbara Hepworth Kerry has used a blend of two clays, a toasted brown stoneware and white stoneware, to create this unique piece. Once the form is built, incised marks are made with a pottery tool, a liquid porcelain is brushed on which inlays into the marks and finally an agate stone is used to burnish the form to a pebble smooth finish. Once bisque fired a dolomite white glaze is brushed on the top before a final firing to 1200 degrees centigrade. This makes this side table a robust piece of furniture suitable both for indoors and out bringing a welcome piece of art and design to any home.
