French 19th Century Louis XVI St. circa 1880 Solid Mahogany Oval Side Table
About the Item
A very important French 19th century Louis XVI St. solid mahogany oval side table signed Brevete, circa 1880. The table is raised by four circular tapered fluted legs with ormolu sabots topped with ormolu bands. The legs are joined by a kidney-shaped quartered veneered tier decorated by an ormolu gallery. At the front is a herringbone inlaid sliding door between fluted columns with a white Carrera marble fitted interior. The frieze is decorated with ormolu borders and rosette blocks at each side and a central drawer with ormolu pull. Above is a fitted Brocatelle d'Espagne marble top within an ormolu gallery. All original gilt and patina.
