An elegant antique Louis XV style carved walnut card game table. circa 1790 Born in Continental Europe in the late 18th / early 19th century, exquisitely hand-crafted in sophisticated French Louis 15th taste, featuring a rectangular shaped top with inset hand woven tapestry surface and rounded bentwood corners, over a warm rich solid walnut pegged case with stunning grain detail, fitted with a pair of dovetailed drawers, scalloped apron with hand carved shell motif, gracefully rising on gently curved cabriole legs adorned with acanthus carvings. Dimensions: (approx) 27.5" High, 32" Wide, 32" Deep As warm and attractive as it is useful, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a game table, center table, library table, large side table, place a piece of glass atop the textile art to use as a one-of-a-kind writing desk, or place it in the entry or parlor as a stunning yet unpretentious statement piece! *Additional photos available upon request Condition: Great original unrestored antique condition with beautifully aged patina. A most impressive and truly Provincial antique walnut table from the estate of legendary American businessman, T. Boone Pickens. Born in the charming countryside of Provence, Southeastern France, directly on the border of Italy and the Mediterranean sea, in the early 19th century, possibly 18th century. Hand-crafted from warm, rich walnut, with superb grain pattern, ornate Louis XIII style, showing heavy Italian Mediterranean influence, substantial size and proportions, featuring a rectangular top with carved molded edge, atop single large frieze drawer, with hand carved dovetail joints, paneled drawer front and original wooden pull, over a shaped apron with spiral scroll incised decorative accent. High quality craftsmanship throughout including pegged mortise tenoned joinery, rising elegantly on hand turned legs joined by finial topped "X" form turned cross-stretcher, terminating on ball feet. Retaining beautiful original patina over the whole. The exceptional antique, circa 1800, is as warm and attractive as it is functional.
