Decorated Gold Leaf, Brass and Glass Coffee, Side or End Tables, c 1960s

About the Item

Beautiful artistry in this pair of decorated gold leaf tables which can function as a coffee table when paired together or two separate side / end tables. From circa 1960s, this pair of tables are in similar style to Philip & Kelvin LaVernes works, but with the twist of decorated gold leaf. The gold leaf artwork on each table features opposing horse and rider with lance, in a medieval / renaissance style. Possibly utilizing acid-etching, or other similar techniques, the gold leaf has variations of color furthering the antique feel of this incredible pair of functional art. The square shape frame with brass legs and stretchers resemble Philip & Kelvin LaVerne's bronze tables in shape and style, but with a unique twist of gold-leaf artistry that you don't find in LaVernes. One thing that gold leaf provides that gives these tables unique qualities for real world use is the incredible reflectiveness that it provides. With direct light on the tables the gold leaf glimmers and shines, from other angles the table tops appear bronzed and mysterious. So many ways to enjoy the artistry of these tables from different viewpoints. The intricate craftsmanship and artistry of this stunning acid etched gold leaf over wood coffee / tea tables (also works great as a large side or end tables) in a square shape with brass legs and stretchers would be a great addition as part of a classic, contemporary, brutalist, chinoiserie, regency or mid-century modern living room, den, man or woman cave, family room, office or bedroom. It would also be an Apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium. Ideal for the collector client or high-fashion interior designer. MEASUREMENTS: H 13.5" x W 22.25" x D 22.25" CONDITION: Good vintage condition with light wear and patina. Gold Leaf on one table is in excellent vintage condition, and some blemishes on the other table (see photos). Glass has faint scratches and other age. Brass has light patina throughout.
