About the Item

This is a fabulous Vintage Regency Revival dining set comprising a dining table, mid 20th Century in date, and a set of fourteen antique Athenian dining chairs,Circa 1870 in date. The fabulous Vintage brass inlaid Regency Revival dining table is made of stunning flame mahogany and is raised on twin columns on quadruple swept reeded sabre leg bases terminating in elegant ormolu caps and recessed castors, with a pair of legs down the centre to support the pair of leaves. The table has two leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion. This makes it a versatile dining table which can comfortably seat fourteen people. The table top is in stunning flame mahogany with a brass inlaid Greek Key border and brass line inlay. There is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome dining table which is certain to become a treasured addition to your furniture collection, and a talking point with guests at meal times. The lovely set of fourteen antique Victorian Scottish solid mahogany "Athenian" design dining chairs are Circa 1870 in date. The top rails, sides and central splats feature beautfully carved geometric designs and the chairs are raised on turned and reeded front legs legs that terminate in brass and brown porcelain castors. We have just reupholstered the chairs in a sumptuous Moore & Giles tan leather with individual brass studs. Transform the fine dining experience in your home with this dining set fit for a king. THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THESE ITEMS ARE MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION. Condition: In excellent condition the table and chairs having been beautifully cleaned, polished waxed and the chairs reupholstered, in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation. Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree. Our reference: A3005a.
