Hana Walnut Trestle Dining Table
About the Item
The Hana Trestle Dining table is our take on the classic trestle form, beloved by both the shakers and their distant woodworking cousins, the Japanese-who have reinterpreted the design in the most beautiful ways.
Each table begins with scrupulously chosen walnut boards; evaluated on their clarity and straightness of grain. The lumber is milled on our well tuned machines, then shaped by hand to form tight fitting joinery for the base. The top is polished with a sharp Stanley no. 4 plane which leaves a shimmering surface unattainable with sandpaper. Finished with a natural oil and wax blend.

West of Noble is a Los Angeles based design practice dedicated to the pursuit of making wooden furniture by hand. It was founded by designer and itinerant woodworker Greg Mitchell in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2011, but is inspired by a lifetime of travel, time spent on the sea, various odd jobs, wooden sailboats, and friends and family; without whom the company would not exist. Our designs are guided by the making process, and the unpredictable nature of our chosen material. We aim for the simplest line in each piece, believing it is only finished when there is nothing left to take away.
