C18th Georgian Mahogany Oblong Dining Table (Tilt Top Breakfast Chippendale)

About the Item

A late c.18th, George III period, mahogany tilt-top dining or breakfast table, in Chippendale taste. A very high quality table, featuring an oblong shaped, very well figured mahogany top, with thumb moulded edge. Utilising a hinged tilt mechanism, with lock to hold in place when uprights, and double brass catches to lock when down. Supported by a well proportioned ring turned stem support, raised on a quartet of carved reeded legs, terminating in brass paw castors. An attractive and very high quality table. With all original features. In very good condition and ready for use. Dimensions: This table measures approximately 72 cm (28.375") tall, and the top is 144 cm (56.75") by 101 cm (39.75"). Condition: Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This table is in very good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally sound and sturdy. Some marks and blemishes, all in keeping with age and use. No loose joints. Very good wax polish finish. Sensitively serviced in our workshop. Delicately cleaned and waxed, now very well presented, and very much ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
