Original George III circa 1780 Double Sided Walnut Partner Desk Lion Head Handle

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning very rare original George III circa 1780 walnut twin pedestal double sided partner desk with Lion head handles and brown leather surface A very well made late 18th century desk, I have never seen another double sided piece from this era, it is sublime, the front has nine traditional drawers, the back two cupboards and three drawers, the concept was of course for two people to share the same desk, either in a legal context or for the boss and their assistant. The desk comes complete with all original Lion head handles and brown leather top which is distressed in the middle We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, as mentioned the desk leather has wear, there is an old repair to one of the cupboard hinges, various signs of patina from 240+ plus years of use, everything functions as it should I can have the desk fully restored to include sorting out the old repair, a new leather top or this leather top restored and hand dyed, the timber can all be washed back and French polished, for a price on any of the above please let me know, I have left the desk as it is because allot of collectors are looking for genuine age related patina, others are looking for fully restored As things stand we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom Dimensions Height 72.5cm Width 150cm Depth 95cm Legroom Height 57cm, width 66.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses SW19-3BE Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
