French, 19th Century, Transitional Style Tulipwood and Kingwood Secretary

About the Item

A most elegant French 19th century Transitional st. Kingwood, Tulipwood, ormolu, and Rouge Royale marble Secretary. The one door seven drawer secretary is raised by fine cabriole legs with beautiful pierced foliate sabots centering the scalloped shaped frieze with an additional striking pierced foliate mount. The four drawers and the door at the front are each richly decorated with intricately detailed scrolled foliate designs set on a unique and most decorative scalloped shaped background and framed in an impressive quarter veneered Kingwood border. The front folds down to reveal its original fitted leather writing surface, original hardware, one shelf, and four drawers each decorated with finely detailed blooming flower ormolu pulls. At the two front corners of the secretary are richly chased pierced ormolu mounts with exceptional fluted family crest designs and lovely scrolled foliate movements. Above is the original Rouge Royale marble top with a fine mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
