Diminutive Country French Provincial Fruitwood Writing Table Desk

About the Item

Late 19th century country French provincial style diminutive writing table or desk crafted from fruitwood. The desk features a case decorated on all sides with a whimsical carved braided pattern apron having an open fretwork design. The case is fronted by a small storage drawer in the center and a pull-out writing surface above the drawer that is 16 inches long. The top and sides of the desk have a delicate thread pattern inlay with floral motif inlay on the corners. The case is supported with long, elegant cabriole style legs that taper towards the bottom. The radiant fruitwood has a desirable aged patina full of character and charm in a warm, dark honey finish. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery and a distinctive profile. From an estate in the Napa Valley, CA.

Wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery and construction. Age appropriate wear and fading with chips, scuffs, scratches and old repairs as seen in photos. Desk top is faded, and slightly warped.
