19th Century Italian Renaissance Revival Writing Desk Made of Walnut

About the Item

A 19th century Italian writing desk in renaissance revival style made of solid walnut. The table can be used as a writing desk or as a dining table. Both sides look the same. Feet in the form of large double volutes that merge into artistically carved lion feet. The connecting piece is fastened with wooden wedges and also carved with volutes and a shell in the middle. Rectangular table top with surrounding frieze. Traces of former worm infestation partially visible (see photos). Dimensions: 81 cm high / 31.89 inch high, 215.5 cm wide / 84.84 inch wide, 85.5 cm deep / 33.66 inch deep The table can be transported in 4 parts.

Side coffered chest of drawers with 4 large drawers under a slightly overhanging profiled top plate. Wide fluted pilasters of Corinthian order decorating the pilaster strips ending in 2 fully sculpted lion feet. All 4 drawers can be opened and closed by 2 large wooden knobs each.
