Large French Mid-Century /Art Deco Silvered Iron Console, Raymond Subes, 1930

About the Item

Rare, elegant, large French Mid-Century 1930 modernist / late Art Deco wrought iron console attributed to Raymond Subes. The console is emblematic of Subes's use of soft, curving, sensuous forms and an effortless sense of balance and harmony. The wall console is hand crafted and hand hammered into a perfect, delicate form. The iron base has been silver leafed and and the mercury glass top is patinated and cloudy to a subtle and rich effect which adds to the pure, celestial aesthetic of the table. The piece's generous size allows it to act in multi-functional roles as a sideboard, buffet or serving table. Large Elegant French Mid-Century Modern Cross-Form Console / sofa table, in the style of Jacques Quinet, with a sober, modern sensibility in hand wrought iron that has been hand gilt. The cross form console is composed of two intersecting perpendicular rectangular frames which support a top of raw travertine. All Joints are welded in a seamless manner that convey simplicity, purity and unity and make this piece a minimalist work of art.
