Italian 19th Century Baroque St. Giltwood Console and Matching Mirror
About the Item
A stunning Italian 19th century Baroque st. giltwood console and matching mirror. The freestanding console is raised by striking cabriole legs with elegant scrolled feet. Each leg is connected by an impressive and most decorative foliate stretcher with a pierced central reserve and smooth cabochon. Above each leg are impressive richly carved scrolled foliate carvings centering the superb pierced apron with additional finely detailed luxuriant scrolled foliate designs with a central smooth family crest. Above a stepped giltwood band is the original thick Rosso Levanto marble top with a fine mottled border. The matching mirror above retains its original mirror plate set within an elegant mottled border which extends throughout the frame. At each corner are striking richly carved pierced foliate reserves with additional lovely designs at the center with a fluted family crest like design amidst additional scrolls. The impressive pierced central top crown also displays a most decorative scrolled foliate movement with charming flowers. All original gilt throughout.
