Donald Deskey Style Modernist Art Deco Console Table

About the Item

A magnificent Art Deco console table in the style of Donald Deskey featuring two concentric circular chromed metal flat iron bars mounted on two unusual and splendidly-shaped chromed metal bases. The latter conceal wheeled castors which permit easy movement of the table. The table top is made from metal in high gloss black lacquer and fits over a wooden platform which is not seen except from underneath. The carcase of the drawer is made entirely from metal with the facade and bar handle in chrome. This table stands apart from other Art Deco chrome tables because of the aesthetically appealing geometric design of this masterpiece and in particular the rare Deskey-style wheeled bases. This is truly the product outstanding creative genius and fully embodies the spirit of high Art Deco period design. It is in very good condition. However, there is some pitting in the chrome which is quite normal considering the age of the piece. The black table top, which was refinished, is in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: width: 35.63 in. (90.5 cm.) depth: 18.63 in. (47.2 cm.) height: 28 in. (71.1 cm.) Weight: 90 lbs. (41 kgs.)
