18th Century French Louis XVI Neoclassical Marquetry Console Table

About the Item

18th century French Louis XVI neoclassical marquetry console table A rectangular console table with one frieze drawer standing on four square, slender and tapering legs with trompe l'oeil fluting marquetry. The drawer as well as the sides decorated with marquetry in the form of a frieze of stylized arch elements within Greek key banding. The corners with trompe l'oeil fluting marquetry. The drawer with gilt bronze ring handles and Louis XVI key hole surrounding. Underneath the drawer a central decorative apron with gilt bronze Louis XVI style mount. The Louis XVI console table is topped by a rectangular red marble slab. Excellent Louis XVI console table, which impresses with its unusual marquetry and due to its straight lines à la Grècque has an almost modern look, making it perfect for a modern ambience as well.
