"Juno" Glass Topped Coffee Table with Base in Dark Brown Brushed Brass Base
About the Item
“Juno” is a one-of-a-kind coffee table, that combines minimalist modern design with classic Roman iconography. Designed by Vincent Copeland as part of KalaRara’s “ICONS” Luxury Collection, this unique piece was made by hand in our atelier in Rome. The tabletop recreates a depiction of the Roman goddess Juno by 17th century French artist Eustache Le Seur. The tabletop was created on a base of reclaimed wood to which a stucco composite of Italian marble powder, mica and sand taken from the Sayhad desert mixed with resin was applied. Once the composite dried, a rendering of Le Seur’s “Juno” was drawn, by hand, with charcoal and black and white pencil. To complete the image, crushed Murano glass in shades of aventurine, jade green, amber, topaz were applied to the tabletop and fixed in place with clear matte finish acrylic. An inset panel of extra-clear tempered glass covers and protects the tabletop. The handmade table base, in itself a work of art, was realised in an acid washed, raked brass. To offset and compliment the deep brown patina of the table’s side panels there is a narrow inset strip of golden, mirror polished brass. The entire piece rests on an inset base of acid washed brass, which protects against scuff marks and simultaneously gives the impression of the table hovering ever so slightly above the floor. Not simply a coffee table, “Juno” is a functional work of art.
